Cole Harbour native, Dr. Nicole Monk developed a passion for movement at an early age that helped her to navigate the many challenges she’s had to face. After experiencing an ACL injury during her grade 12 year of high school, she discovered the power of naturopathic medicine and began on a lifelong journey of self-discovery and healing.
Dr. Nicole completed her Bachelor of Science at Dalhousie University with a Double Major in Biology and Psychology. With a therapist as her mom and her love of physical health, she was eager to learn about the intersection of the mind and body. Through this degree she was able to build a solid foundation in human physiology and witness the powerful impact that collaborative and preventative care can have on health outcomes.
Dr. Nicole’s interest in preventative medicine ultimately led her to the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine where she graduated with her Doctorate in 2024. Dr. Nicole’s clinical areas of interest include sport performance and recovery, hormonal health, and mental health. She believes that a strong foundation begins in the mind –in the conscious and unconscious thoughts we’re relaying to ourselves every day.
Dr. Nicole is passionate about movement as a powerful tool for her patients. She believes that movement not only improves physical health but also nurtures mental and emotional well-being. By incorporating movement into her treatment plans, whether through stretching, yoga, or therapeutic exercises, Dr. Nicole empowers her patients to reconnect with their bodies, enhance mobility, and reduce stress. She sees movement as a key element in promoting overall healing, helping her patients build strength, resilience, and a deeper sense of balance in their lives.
Dr. Nicole is a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors, the Nova Scotia Association of Naturopathic Doctors, and The College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta.
