Are your hormones balanced? Your hormones are the driving force of the entire resiliency system of your body. Built out of cholesterol, they drive everything from how rested you are waking up in the morning, to bloating and migraines before your period, to anxiety, fatigue, no sex drive and even weight gain. It’s not just as simple as saying “I have PMS, or I’m in menopause”, in fact these little buggers make us want to pull our hair out and figure out how to stop feeling so sick and tired.

When it comes to understanding and managing our hormones, Naturopathic Doctors look at how hormones are built, how they are broken down and even how they interact with each other. Water retention before your period speaks to a very difference hormonal imbalance than anxiety and insomnia the week before your period, and it takes understanding the patterns to not treat you just like everyone else.

When it comes to understanding your hormones, I like to look at how you can optimize your hormones to work for you, not against you. This includes helping you understand how to schedule important meetings, conferences or even events at specific times of your cycle to get the most out of your hormones. It’s not just that your period (or menopause) can make you feel like crap; it’s about realizing that hormones give women an added edge to performance optimization.
