Premenstrual Syndrome is defined as a group of symptoms that occur approximately 10 days before your menstrual period. It is experienced by the majority of women and can negatively impact one’s quality of life. Although very common, it is not normal to experience PMS.
PMS symptoms can vary from person to person and can consist of mental/emotional, to physical and digestive symptoms. Common symptoms include irritability, mood swings, brain fog, bloating, migraines, and food cravings.
Since there is no blood work to confirm a PMS diagnosis, tracking your cycle along with the symptoms and patterns that you experience is essential for your doctor to make a proper diagnosis after ruling out other causes.
Naturopathic Medicine can offer many ways to manage your PMS. These may include lifestyle and dietary modifications, nutritional supplementation, Botanical medicine, and acupuncture.
True or false:
Under-eating can worsen the symptoms of PMS (premenstrual syndrome).
